New iPhone application keeps you instantly informed about Tremont area of Cleveland | cleveland.com

Apple recently began offering a new iPhone application called Experience Tremont that consolidates information on neighborhood events, bars, restaurants and churches. The application is free and can be updated to show daily events and for businesses to display daily specials or sales.

Tremont-based web designers and consultants SCK Design, Inc. prepared the application on behalf of the neighborhood merchants association, Restore Tremont, to help promote the neighborhood.

Every business in the area -- 133 in all -- is listed with its address, phone number and a one-line description. Fourteen have paid the $300 yearly fee to detail more extensive information that can be updated through the Internet whenever they want.

Though there is little posted now, SCK President Barb Cagley said more information will be up by the official launch Sept. 18 and 19 at the Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival.

"We wanted to look for new ways to bring people into Tremont," Cagley said. "Mobile was our first thought because people are going that way."
